Braves Receive Positive Update on Jurickson Profar

After losing catcher Sean Murphy for at least the first month of the 2025 season, the Atlanta
Braves endured another injury scare this past Saturday during their spring training game against
the Pittsburgh Pirates. After attempting to make a diving catch on a fly ball to left field, Atlanta’s
premier free agent signing, Jurickson Profar, fell on his wrist, leaving the game in immense pain.
Many assumed the worst after enduring the entire 2024 season, one in which the team was
decimated by injuries to key players, including Ronald Acuña Jr., Spencer Strider, Michael
Harris II, Sean Murphy, Austin Riley, and Ozzie Albies. However, the Braves and their fans
received encouraging news regarding the extent of Profar’s wrist injury.

After the initial MRI scan returned negative, Profar flew back to Atlanta for additional testing.
The CT scan results in Atlanta revealed a bone bruise. Per Mark Bowman, the team’s beat
writer For MLB.com, the All-Star outfielder will likely be ready for opening day when he returns
to San Diego to face the Padres, his former team. The Braves will already begin the season
without Acuña, recovering from his left ACL tear suffered last May. Therefore, they will need
Profar in their lineup and outfield to accompany Harris, a Gold Glove-winning centerfielder, while
Jarred Kelenic and Bryan Da La Cruz platoon in right field until Acuña returns.
