College Football Hate Week: A Time for Rivalries and Upsets

College football’s hate week is always a highly anticipated event, with longtime rivals facing off in intense matchups. This year’s edition did not disappoint, with several major upsets and storylines that will be remembered for a long time.

Major Upsets

One of the biggest upsets of the week came when Michigan took down Ohio State 13-10 in Columbus. The Wolverines were 20.5-point underdogs heading into the game, but their defense limited the Buckeyes to just 175 passing yards and 77 rushing yards. This was Michigan’s fourth consecutive win over Ohio State, and it marked a significant upset in the college football world.

Another notable upset came when North Carolina State took down North Carolina 35-30. The Wolfpack planted their flag on the Tar Heels’ logo after the game, which led to a scuffle between the two teams.

Storylines

One of the biggest storylines of the week was the controversy surrounding the College Football Playoff (CFP) rankings. With several teams vying for a spot in the playoff, every game mattered, and the upsets only added to the drama.

In the Big 12, four teams were in contention for a conference title and a CFP berth. No. 21 Arizona State, No. 14 BYU, No. 16 Colorado, and No. 22 Iowa State but after this weekend the conference championship game will be played between Arizona State and Iowa State.

Rivalry week always brings out the best and worst in college football, and this year was no exception. From the fights and flag plantings to the upsets and dramatic finishes, it was a week that will be remembered for a long time.

As the college football season comes to a close, the drama and excitement will only continue to build. With the CFP rankings still up in the air, every game matters, and the next two weeks will be crucial in determining the national champion.
