The Washington Wizards pulled off a thrilling 113-110 win over the Charlotte Hornets last night at Capital One Arena. Jordan Poole was the hero of the game, hitting a clutch three-pointer with 8.1 seconds remaining to seal the victory .

Poole finished with a team-high 25 points, six rebounds, three assists, one steal, and two blocks. This marks his fifth straight game with over 20 points, leading the team in scoring in each of those contests.

The Wizards’ win was a hard-fought one, with the Hornets’ LaMelo Ball putting up a game-high 31 points. Miles Bridges added 22 points for Charlotte, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Wizards’ determined effort.

The game was closely contested throughout, with the Wizards taking a 34-29 lead after the first quarter. They maintained a slim advantage throughout the game, with the Hornets making several pushes to take the lead.

In the end, it was Poole’s clutch shooting that made the difference. His nonchalant attitude after the game belied the significance of his shot, saying “the game winner was cool stuff you think about as a kid … but it’s really awesome leading this organization”

The win improves the Wizards’ record to 5-23, while the Hornets fall to 7-22. Despite their struggles this season, the Wizards have shown signs of life in recent games, going 2-2 in their last four games. With this being their 2nd time beating Charlotte at home.
