Argentina played Peru at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami for their final group stage match of the
Copa America. With a quarterfinal stage spot secured this game didn’t seem too important or of
note, but the story in this afternoon match in Florida was that La Albiceleste would be without
their star man “Lionel Messi” on the field because of injury. The question on everyone’s minds
was if it would matter that Messi was unavailable because of the talent Argentina has in its roster
or do Argentina still heavily rely on Messi for success. But, no Messi no problem; Lautaro
provided as Argentina won 2-0 with a double by Lautaro Martínez.
Argentina have never missed Messi
Whenever you think of Argentina the first thing that always pops in your head is Messi. Messi’s
exploits with the national side as of late have been popularized in the media for the little flea
finally winning the World Cup in Qatar 2022 as well as winning the double which includes the
Copa America and Finalissma.
Messi has never missed an Argentina game since the second game for the national side in the
Conmebol Qualifiers on September 12th of last year. So it’s a concern for fans if Argentina can
still play quick and entertaining football without their star man.

It was a worry for fans if Argentina could play well and beat Peru, but no Messi no worries as
the national side have beaten Peru 2-0 with a double from Lautaro Martinez with one of them
assisted by Angel Di Maria and

Argentina top their group and now wait for an opponent for the quarterfinals.
While fans will pray and hope Messi’s injury is minor and will be fit for knockout stage play.
