Shout Out Minnesota recaps the Minnesota United FC Home opener.

On Saturday, Minnesota United FC took to Allianz Field for their home opener vs the 2023 MLS Cup Champions Columbus Crew.

Both teams entered the match 1-0 (third in their respective conferences). A perfect weather day (50s and sunny).

It was a very physical and defensive match that kept each team scoreless in the first half. The Loons looked confident and had some opportunities to put it in their opponent’s net first. It did not happen. Instead, Columbus Forward Cucho Hernandez seized the opportunity and recorded the first goal of the match in the 59′.

The match would stay 1-0 Columbus through 90 minutes. It took the 6th minute of extra time and lightning struck for Minnesota, as Forward Tani Oluwaseyi put in the match tieing goal. Minnesota United FC remains undefeated and earns a point in the standings. Incredible finish and well deserved.

The Loons take to the road as they go to Florida for their next match to play Orlando City SC Saturday March 9th.
