Shout Out Minnesota Sports recaps Twins vs Dodgers series

This was a tough series for the Twins. The Los Angeles Dodgers came into the series as one of the top teams in the league and the Twins coming off back-to-back losses to the Guardians.  Pitching has been descent for Minnesota to start the season, but the offense has under-achieved so far to say the least. Many fans have spoken out with the significant drop in this season’s payroll by $35 million and it’s showing. It was a tall order for the Twins pitching staff, when the first 3 batters in the Dodger’s lineup are former MLB MVPs. (Betts, Ohtani, & Freeman)

Minnesota only managed 15 hits the entire series and 5 were solo-shot Homeruns.

Austin Martin (recently called up for the injured Royce Lewis) generated most of the offense in Game two going 2 for 3. Some late inning homeruns by Jeffers, Correa, & Kirilloff helped make the game closer than it really was on the stat sheet. Minnesota’s offense struck out 15x that game (14 by starting Dodger pitcher Tyler Glasnow). The Twins first hit didn’t come until the 6th inning. It was getting difficult to watch at times.

Game three of the series, Minnesota finally did enough to get the much-needed win. Second baseman Edouard Julien powered Minnesota with 2 solo homeruns. Great defensive plays / pitching earned the team their first home win of the season to avoid a Los Angeles sweep. Twins win 3-2.

The Twins hope to carry the winning momentum on the road as they make stops in Detroit & Baltimore before returning to Target Field 4/19 vs Tigers.
