The Washington Wizards snapped their 16-game losing streak in style, defeating the Denver Nuggets 122-113 on Saturday night. This thrilling win improved the Wizards’ record to 3-18.
Jordan Poole led the charge with an impressive 39 points, including a career-high nine 3-pointers. Justin Champagnie also had a standout performance, scoring a career-high 23 points in his first start of the season.
Despite being without key players Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon, the Nuggets put up a good fight, thanks largely to Nikola Jokic’s incredible 56-point performance. Jokic’s career-high night included 16 rebounds and eight assists, making him the first player in NBA history to total 55+ points, 15+ rebounds, 5+ assists, and 3+ 3-pointers in a single game.
The Wizards’ victory was a much-needed morale boost, and they’ll look to carry this momentum forward in their next game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
