At WWE Elimination Chamber: Toronto, John Cena stunned the sports world (not just the wrestling world) by turning heel for the first time in over two decades when he turned on WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and aligned himself with The Rock. The magic question now, seeing as this is the “John Cena Farewell Tour” (a.k.a. “The Last Time Is Now”) is how long will John Cena remain a heel??
Not long at all. And here’s why…
First off, people have to understand that John Cena had been the hero of WWE for 20 years. Even when fans called for a heel turn, they were not given it because Cena was WWE’s “Superman”. The man held the record for most Make-A-Wish visits after all. So with that said, WWE is not going to have their historical hero leave as a heel. This is my projection for 2025.
John Cena will defeat Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41, winning his 14th WWE Championship and 17th World title overall, breaking Hall Of Famer Ric Flair’s record. Now The Rock has his “champion”.
Cena will keep the title through Summer 2025 and lose the belt back to Rhodes at Summerslam 2025. Because he lost the title, and lost it of all people to Rhodes…stay with me here…..ready?? Here we go….The Final Boss himself will knife the Chain Gang Soldier John Cena in the back and turn on him.
The Rock will then deem that, now he has to go do it himself. This will finally set up The Rock vs. Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship. Now this may not come at a PLE (I’m thinking a Saturday Night Main Event sometime in the fall). Rhodes will retain thanks to help from….John Cena (making him everyone’s favorite soldier again).
Fast forward a bit…John Cena’s final match (which likely will be at the Royal Rumble 2026 OR if WWE has a PLE in December) will be a rubber match vs The Rock (they met up previously in back-to-back WrestleManias, series is tied 1-1). Cena will win, and go out on his horse into the sunset. But here is where it gets hairy…Cena will have help in the match…from the Original Tribal Chief himself Roman Reigns.
This will plant the first seed for Rock-Reigns WrestleMania 42 (a match that should have happened two years ago, if it weren’t for some “story”). And don’t be shocked if the Ula Fala is on the line.
This is set to be quite the ride that could potentially end in a train wreck. And we are here for it.
