The Washington Capitals are off to a fantastic start this season, sitting atop the Eastern Conference standings with a record of 13-4-1 (.750 P%). They’re leading the NHL in goals for per game (4.33), goals for at 5v5 (59), and first-period goals (30) 

Key Players and Stats:

•  Alex Ovechkin is having an incredible season, leading the NHL in goals (15) However, he’s currently week-to-week with a leg injury 

•  Connor McMichael is tied for fifth in goals (12) 

•  Other top scorers include Aliaksei Protas (7), Tom Wilson (6), Dylan Strome (6), Nic Dowd (5), and Jakob Chychrun (5) 

Team Performance:

The Capitals have an average win margin of 2.92 goals and rank 10th in the NHL in goals against per game (2.78). Nine different skaters scored during their recent three-game Western Conference road trip, with all 18 players recording at least one point 

Playoff Predictions:

While it’s early in the season, the Capitals’ strong performance suggests they’ll be a contender for the playoffs. Their depth in scoring and solid defense make them a formidable opponent.
